In summary, the proposed study will:
1. Evaluate the overall effects of mid story removal on natural and underplanted seedlings
seven years following treatment
2. Quantify the relationship between seedling morphological characteristics and subsequent
growth and mortality
3. Examine the seven-year response of stand structure to the midstory removal
4. Characterize light, temperature, alid soil moisture regimes within untreat~d stands and
stanas receiving midstory control.
