Soil Health Benefit from Winter Wheat in the Rotation

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

This work is intended to answer a subset of questions posed in the recent KYSGGA RFP. Are there "long term soil health benefits to having wheat (or other small grain) vs. as a cover crop. Is it better for the soil to take grain to harvest?" We propose to undertake research designed to answer these questions. More than one year of work will likely be needed (we understand that the second year of funding is contingent upon a successful renewal request).
