Grants and Contracts Details
Description
This project will provide funding to allow the Univeristy of Kentucky 2009 Solar Decathlon (SD) House to be used
in an off-grid application. It is proposed that this project will add the necessary batteries and charge/inverters so the
electrical energy from the 13 kW of installed PV modules can be stored and used later. It is proposed that this project
will investigate and demonstrate the use of both a) energy storage simulating an ogg-grid application and b) energy
storage for an on-grid application where the excess energy is put back on the grid during peak demand periods. This
will also enable a current project investigating the optimal control of the house to utilize storage as another control
strategy.
