The NIOSH-funded core projects of the Southeast Center emphasize the translation of research to pracuc~ (r2p) and involve collaborative activities throughout the Center's 10-state service region: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. The specific aims of the Center are to (1) conduct research on the prevention of occupational disease and injury among agricultural workers and their families; (2) develop, implement, and evaluate education and outreach programs to promote the safety and health of agricultural workers and their families; (3) develop, implement, and evaluate model programs to prevent illness and injury among agricultural workers and their families; and (4) develop linkages with other governmental and non-governmental bodies involved in public health and safety, especially other agricultural safety and health research centers.
