Description
The Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) Special Education Consortium will bridge the work between local IHE Special Education Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) and partner school districts to increase learning outcomes for students with disabilities.
The work of the IHE Special Education Consortium is to support the KDE’s long-term goal of closing the achievement gap for Kentucky’s lower-performing students by 2030 through:
• increasing connections of IHE special education EPPs,
• sustaining the work of the Kentucky Excellence in Educator Preparation (KEEP) initiative, by increasing the use of evidence-based and high leverage practices in EPPs and school districts,
• creating intentional connections between IHE special education EPPs, LEAs, and Education Cooperatives, and
• growing Kentucky’s IHE national presence.
The IHE Special Education Consortium will do this through supporting the following key points:
1. K-3 literacy
2. Individual instruction and assessment
3. Student success in postsecondary
4. Social and emotional health
