Description
Dr. Elaine Eisenbaum, HDI, will develop key resources, which will be used to help organizations
understand what they need to do to take on inclusive health actions. Specifically, resources tailored
for fitness/wellness professionals.
This resource development work will be a mix of identifying existing information,
compilation/editing, and creation of new resources. The resources to develop include:
~ Problem Statement for that particular category (for example, healthcare professional
are not trained appropriately in working with people with ID; or fitness organizations
are not accessible for people with ID because of complicated forms or staff/trainers
lack experience in working with people with ID)
~ Testimonials from industry leaders on why inclusion/inclusive health is important (both
for organization itself and society)
~ Making the case (social justice, business case, etc) for inclusive health targeted to
general organizations (#1) or specific audience (#2-4)
~ Case studies/examples of organizations that have practiced inclusive health
~ Examples from Special Olympics Programs
~ Emerging practices
~ Call to Action
~ Inclusive Health Pledge (commitment to achievable goals)
~ Recommendations to SOI on future resource development to prioritize
