Grants and Contracts Details
Description
Growers across Kentucky are looking for high-value specialty crops to help diversify their farming enterprises and persimmons are a fruit that may fit for growers. Persimmon is relatively easy to grow yet there haven't been any significant evaluations of the various cultivars that are available. We propose planting a replicated evaluation of 4 varieties of American persimmon, 3 varieties of Asian persimmon and 2 hybrids. Fruit and trees will be evaluated for quality, yield, and consumer preference.
