Description
KTC personnel will utilize FHWA’s Sustainable Highways Framework in order to highlight areas in which both KYTC are excelling in the sustainable arena and areas where simple cost effective measures can be applied to improve the triple bottom line, through an analysis of completed KYTC projects. The SAC will select the projects to be included in the study. The findings will be presented to the SAC members.
1) Review KYTC sustainability initiatives. 2) Analyze sustainability initiatives taking place at other state Departments of Transportation. 3) Review Federal government initiatives pertaining to sustainable initiatives. 4) Utilizing a suitable framework, analyze completed KYTC projects in order to highlight best practices currently employed by KYTC pertaining to sustainable activities. 5) Identify areas of improvement that address the requirements stipulated by the triple bottom line of sustainable activities (with an emphasis on economic benefits).
