SPR 14-472: Develop Longer Lasting Bridge Deck Overlays

  • Rister, Bradley (PI)

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

There are approximately 13,000 bridges owned and maintained by KYTC. Approximately fifty-three percent of these bridges have a FHWA sufficiency rating of less than 80%. Not only are the super-structures starting to degrade, but the bridge decks themselves are starting to degrade as well. This project will perform an exhaustive literature search to define the state-of-art practice for bridge deck overlays. This project will also try to determine the most cost-effective way to develop a longer lasting bridge deck overlay and how new products and technologies can be incorporated into the practice of bridge deck repair.
