Grants and Contracts Details
Description
The ability to create an accurate 3-D geospatial model of the roadway by merging aerial LiDAR, mobile LiDAR and Stationary LiDAR will allow both highway designers and contractors to identify roadway features above grade during the planning, design, and construction phases of a project. This combined dataset will allow for surveyors/engineers/designers/contractors to identify conflicts in both the design and construction phase that would be normally difficult to determine without both lane closures and destructive testing. All field data will be collected in a mobile environment therefore eliminating the need to interfere with the flow of traffic--thus creating a safer way to collect project sensitive design and construction data.
