Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Over the years, highway construction has built thousands of walls to withstand lateral earth and water pressures, including any live and dead load surcharge, the self-weight of the wall, temperature and shrinkage effect, live load and collision forces, and earthquake loads. This Study should cover all aspects of wall utilization by KYTC from acceptance of proprietary walls up to contract drawings, and will outline acceptable walls types for various situations. This study would update Specs for geogrid and fabrics in the Construction Guidance Manual; update the current special note for the use of geogrids; study on performance of Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil – Integrate Bridge System (GRS-IBS); investigate usage on wall as bridge end.
