SPR 15-501: Design Build and Alternative Technical Concepts Process

The objective of this research is to compose a lessons learned report of design-build projects and strategies such as alternative technical concepts. This report would be developed from state syntheses, interviews, and other state practices as applicable. The following tasks will be conducted: (1)Compose a lessons learned report relative to the administration of design-build projects through a synthesis of KYTC lessons learned from their own design-build projects and in review of design-build best practices from other agencies. (2)Compose an outline of a procedure inclusive of multiple strategies, such as alternative technical concept, value engineering, etc., for incorporating contractor led innovation into KYTC projects, procured by design-build. At the end of this phase of the project, KYTC will decide whether to move forward with further project(s) related to the topic.
