SPR 19-107: Long-Term Monitoring

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Objective: To monitor the condition of selected highway infrastrncture projects which contain experimental/ test features, using onsite assessment techniques and remote digital data acquisition as requested by the Kentncky Department of Highways. Assessment may involve both destrnctive and non-destructive testing, field evaluation and review. Background: The performance of many new techniques utilized on a variety of highway projects may not be realized during installation or even during the near-term after constrnction. Provisions are generally made for short-te1m evaluations of experimental/test featnres as a part of the project. However, provisions are not usually made for longer term evaluations. Evaluations, as conducted by this research project initiative, provide significant long-term performance information at relatively low cost. This project currently consists of 41 subtasks across a wide range of materials and constrnction techniques and only a portion of these subtasks arc evaluated in any given year.
