SPR 23-633: Continuation of CAV Work

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

KTC has assisted KYTC with the development of a comprehensive strategy for connected and automated vehicles (CAVs). Along with preparing a high-level strategic document, KTC has created pamphlets and one-page handouts for public distribution. With the CAV landscape evolving rapidly, the Cabinet will need to periodically revise and update its strategy to account for shifting market conditions and changing levels of public acceptance. The agency also needs to develop a website focused on its CAV-related activities to educate the public and stakeholder groups about the steps it is taking to prepare Kentucky infrastructure for widespread CAV deployment. OBJECTIVES • Develop a KYTC website dedicated to CAVs and update the Cabinet’s CAV strategy upon request • Collaborate with KYTC staff to monitor and synthesize new developments in CAVs. Develop short reviews and policy memos for Cabinet leadership, policymakers, and legislators on key trends. • Hold focus groups with industry stakeholders, the general public, and KYTC staff to collect data on the acceptance of CAVs. Develop strategies to improve their operation on Kentucky’s roadways.
