Grants and Contracts Details

Description

PROBLEM STATEMENT Safety management systems (SMSs) let DOTs electronically report, manage, control, and audit issues related to employee safety. On matters of employee safety, their use helps safety and health divisions in DOTs become more agile, effective, and knowledgeable. Recently, KYTC purchased SMS software that has the potential to revolutionize data collection as well as the control and management of safety across the agency. But effective implementation of such a large and complex system needs documented procedures, processes, and plans. KYTC requires procedures for SMS use, plans for software rollout, and assistance evaluating the SMS as a whole and its output. OBJECTIVES • Assist in the SMS rollout and marketing • Analyze acquired data for additional insights and safety improvements • Evaluate how KYTC staff perceive the SMS
