Grants and Contracts Details
Description
Enroll participants and provide treatment and follow-up as outlined in the NIH study entitled "Standard Care versus Corticosteroid for Retinal Vein Occlusion (SCORE) Study." This is a multicenter, randomized, Phase III trial to assess the efficiency and safety of standard care versus triamcinolone acetonide injection for the treatment of macular edema associated with central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) and branc retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). The development of new treatment modalitises to treat macular edema caused by these two conditions is an important research goal. Patients recruited for this study will have a complete examination for both eyes, including visual acuity, fundus photography, fluorescein angiography (FA), optical coherence tomography (OCT). If the study doctor determines that the patient is eligible the patient will be randomized to 1 of 3 study groups; triamcinolone acetonide injection with a 4 mg dose, triamcinolone acetonide injection with a 1 mg dose or standard treatment.
