Description

The services required and scope of work include continuing the operation of the State Injury Prevention Program (SIPP) located within the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center, University of Kentucky College of Public Health. The staff operate in programmatic and support functions, including the following general areas of injury research and prevention: Occupational injuries Motor vehicle-related injuries Poisoning and drug overdose deaths Pediatric and adolescent injury surveillance and prevention Violent death Major trauma, particularly neurotrauma Emergency preparedness and response. Other areas in which work will be completed include fire safety, agricultural injury, intimate partner violence, suicide, and pesticide exposure. Two full-time staff members are located in eastern Kentucky and perform a variety of community-based outreach functions.
