Description
We expect to provide data and analyses on the population status of river otters in Kentucky. Our
findings will assist KDFWR in determining if current hunting and trapping regimes will ensure a
sustainable harvest. Benefits of this study include research-based management recommendations
for otter populations and the aquatic systems they inhabit in Kentucky. Results of this study wilI
be provided as: 1) a completed PhD dissertation; 2) three yearly status reports summarizing
results and analyses; 3) technical papers published in regional, national, or international journals;
and 4) all raw data submitted to KDFWR in spreadsheet format.
