Structure/Function Determinants of Platelet Granule Secretion

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Dr. Whiteheart, University of Kentucky, together with technical support, will breed the required mouse strains, prepare platelets from them and generate the samples needed for ultrastructural analysis of the platelet secretion process. In addition, we will provide live mice for the thrombosis studies. The mouse breeding and sample preparation will be under the supervision of the University of Kentucky IACUC. The proposed work will require maintenance of several mouse strains and their genotyping. Some animals will be shipped to University of Pennsylvania for specific in vivo experiments; others will be shipped directly to UAMS. This work is required for the proposed work. A subaward to the University of Kentucky Research Foundation from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences will cover the costs of this work.
