Description
The purpose of the Kentucky Healthcare-Associated Infection/Antibiotic Resistance
(HAI/AR) Prevention Program is to plan and implement state-wide activities focused
on the prevention and elimination of HAI/ARs organisms in all types of healthcare
facilities. This is accomplished through: HAI surveillance activities using the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)/ National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN)
database as mandated in regulation 902 KAR 2:020, detect and investigate outbreaks
of HAI/ARs and emerging pathogens of public health importance, develop evidence
based prevention programs, and provide training to support the infection prevention and
control workforce and HAI/AR prevention activities in the Commonwealth.
