Description
ABSTRACT
We will build on our partnerships or create new ones within primary health care, cancer early
detection and prevention, school nurses, ambulatory care centers, veterinarians, community
action agencies, and the cooperative extension to provide radon training via in-person
presentations, fact sheets, webinars, and a biannual health professionals’ e-newsletter to
include the latest radon science, training tools, and educational tools to use with their patients
and/or residents. We will incorporate discussion of clinical practice guidelines and disparities in
home radon testing and mitigation where appropriate. We will also use social media to
promote the latest science, events (e.g., NRAM), and educational materials (@UkyRadon). In
addition, we will maintain, and update UK BREATHE radon website information regarding the
presentations, training tools and educational tools. We will continue to promote the updated
Radon Continuing Education Program course using our detailed dissemination plan. We provide
free continuing education for Continuing Medical Education (CME), Kentucky Board of Nursing
(KBN), Community Health Education Society (CHES), Registered Sanitarian (RS), Respiratory
Therapists (RT) and other professions (OTHER) who can benefit from the online training
material. We will continue to serve as administrators of the CE program. As required annually,
we will review and extend the CE course. We will update radon training marketing materials for
health professionals and health educators and make them available during our presentations
and webinars. We will also make them available on the BREATHE Radon Policy Division website
and provide access to the state to our website, just as the state has linked to KGS for access to
our geologic radon maps.
