Description
This project is to study alcohol-induced tumor promotion. We will add MMTV-Wnt1 transgenic mice to this project. MMTV-Wnt1 mice develop spontaneously mammary tumors in 3-5 months and are better model for mammary carcinogenesis and cancer progress. Since they are hemizygous, only 1/8 of offspring are useful. We will add Pirfenidone [5-methyl-1-2-[1H]-pyridone] (PFD), FDA-approved anti-fibrotic drug to the study. PFD is commonly used for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and now shown to inhibit p38gamma MAPK in mice. We will introduce this drug to block p38gamma MAPK signaling in animals in additional to other conventional approaches.
