Southern Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program 2022-2023 Plan of Work and Strategic Implementation for the 1862 Land-Grant Liaison: Supporting and enhancing the role of SARE in the LGU System including Cooperative Extension Program Goals The role of the Southern SARE 1862 land-grant liaison is to strengthen the connection between the SARE program and the land grant university system in the Southern region to enhance ag professionals’ effectiveness in supporting efforts to make farms and rural and urban communities more sustainable. The goals of the role encompass the following objectives: ? To increase understanding/interest/participation in sustainable agriculture across the Southern region; ? To assist in identifying new ways to innovate sustainable agriculture technologies and practices; ? To collaborate in efforts to strengthen SARE program/community partnerships with land-grant universities, NGOs, farmers, and other stakeholders; ? To support efforts to enhance and strengthen diversity, equity and inclusion in food systems.
