BioSense Redesign Challenge Grant Award Summary Statement Funding received as part of the BioSense Redesign Challenge Grant Award will be used by awardee, Kentucky Department of Public Health, and sub]recipient, University of Kentucky Regional Extension Center (KY]REC), to develop and disseminate BioSense education material in order to provide introduction and further develop case for Biosense value add to Kentucky health care providers. Education materials will not only introduce BioSense, (a bio surveillance project of the Center for Disease Control) materials will explore and address opportunities and challenges in establishing or enhancing syndromic surveillance capabilities of BioSense 2.0. Successful attainment of project objectives, (1) development of materials and (2) distribution of materials, with allow providers to understand and meet federal EHR Incentive Program Meaningful Use Menu Measure number 10 concerning syndromic surveillance reporting. Project Objectives I. Production of Educational Materials a. Work with UK purchasing department to create and execute a request for proposal to secure contract with health literacy consulting company b. Work with consultant to develop text for education materials and review proof to determine and ensure accuracy II. Distribution of Education Materials to Health Care Providers and Health Care Professionals a. KY]REC Implementation Specialist team to distribute materials to KY]REC clients and other interested health care providers during KY]REC client meeting and KY]REC outreach functions including continuing education programs and area health care association conferences. KY]REC Project Objectives and Measurement Criteria **Objectives not developed by sponsor Objective Measure Production of Educational Materials „h Produce 1,001 educational leaflets for distribution „h Produce Online Interactive Application Distribution of Education Materials „h Distribute education materials to 1,001 primary care and specialty providers and other health care professionals „h Use KY.REC SharePoint application to track and measure achievement of goal Timeline The timeline for objectives will be the entirety of the project, from July 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013.
