Abstract The purpose of the grant sponsored the Kentucky Department of Education, Office of Special Education & Early Learning (OSEEL) with the University of Kentucky Visual Impairment Program is to train Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs) and Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialists within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The grant focuses on recruiting, training, and retaining TVIs and O&Ms, as well acting as a statewide resource on blindness and visual impairment. The grant engages and collaborates with other schools and organizations that provide services to individuals who are blind and visually impaired to increase learning opportunities in the areas of the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC). In addition, faculty from the University of Kentucky provide training and outreach on evidence-based practices to those working with children who are blind and visually impaired.
