Abstract
The purpose of the grant sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Education, Office of
Special Education & Early Learning (OSEEL) with the University of Kentucky Visual
Impairment Program is to train Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs) and Orientation
and Mobility (O&M) Specialists within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The grant
focuses on recruiting, training, and retaining TVIs and O&Ms, as well as acting as a
statewide resource on blindness and visual impairment. The grant engages and
collaborates with other schools and organizations that provide services to individuals who
are blind and visually impaired to increase learning opportunities in the areas of the
Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC). In addition, faculty from the University of Kentucky
provide training and outreach on evidence-based practices to those working with children
