The Economic Consequences of Utility Scale Solar

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Producers across Kentucky are receiving financially attractive offers to enter into long-term contracts to lease their land to site utility-scale solar projects. These contracts provide a financial windfall that promises significant revenue streams that exceed current cash sales. For aging farmers this revenue guarantee provides a sense of relief during challenging times for farmers. However, the long-term implications for both individual farmers and the larger market are largely unknown. This project will provide producers with additional knowledge that can help inform their decision making.
