Description
The proposed program is a unique program that has for goals to: (i) get younger students in the poorer areas in the state of Kentucky excited about the biochemical and biological sciences by performing weekly hands-on experiments alongside graduate and undergraduate students and UK faculty members, (ii) educate and inspire them to pursue the various career options in this field of science that they are, in almost all cases, unaware of, (iii) provide teaching experience and motivation for undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Kentucky by going to teach in the elementary and high school classrooms on a weekly basis, and (iv) provide field trip experiences where the students will learn more about science.
