Through the Grapevine: Developing Vitis x Muscadinia Wide Hybrids for Enhanced Disease Resistance and Quality

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

This project aims to create unique grape hybrids with traits that could lead to more sustainable grape production, namely resistance to some of the most important grape disease. A demonstration planting will be installed at the Princeton agricultural research station to test some of these hybrids in Kentucky’s climate. Their ability to withstand winters in Kentucky will also be evaluated. Extension efforts will be conducted to make growers aware of the potential of these new hybrids.
