Abstract:
As a Research Fellow, Jordan Phemister will work with a student Research Assistant from the Landscape
Architecture (LA) department and a liaison at the Lexington o?ce of the multi-disciplinary design and
engineering firm, Gresham Smith, to evaluate and document the environmental, social and economic
benefits of the Town Branch Commons trail in downtown Lexington. This prestigious program is on the
leading edge of the landscape architecture profession, and the resulting research and case study will
enhance teaching and student learning opportunities in the LA program, strengthen the LA program’s
relationship with a network of academic and professional partners engaging in this effort to bridge
research and design, and contribute to the growing body of knowledge of landscape performance.
