Grants and Contracts Details
Description
As commercial development expands, there is an increasing number oftraffic
impact studies produced by consultants and submitted for review as part of the encroachment
permit process. Major decisions are made as a result ofthese studies that impact traffic safety,
mobility, and operations ofroadways in Kentucky. There are currently limited guidelines in
place that specify the scope and basis of the studies. Benefits could be gained from the
development of guidelines for the study requirements as well as the review process and
verification oftraffic projections. An in-depth review and assessment of procedures for traffic
projections on highway projects could validate and/or identify opportunities for improvement.
