Description

The Resource Parent Mentoring Program (RPMP) provides relevant, moment-in-time support and training to all newly approved Resource Parents in Kentucky. The program seeks to match newly approved Resource Parents with veteran Resource Parents in a short-term, intensive coaching relationship for their first six months service. Mentors seek to assist mentees with the following: Applying skills learned during the initial training experience, identifying resources unique to the service region, modeling and encouraging appropriate partnership within the child welfare system, providing emotional support, and sharing practical parenting strategies. Goal: The goal of the Resource Parent Mentor Program is to provide emotional and practical support to newly approved Resource Parents, while reinforcing skills learned in training, so as to enhance the quality of care provided and stabilize placements.
