Grants and Contracts Details
Description
Per KRS 211.470 to 211.478 the Traumatic Brain Injury Trust Fund is to establish a confidential
registry for traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries and provide reports of findings. In order to
fulfill the mandate of KRS 211.4 70-211.4 78, the University of Kentucky, Kentucky Injury
prevention and Research Center shall establish and maintain a confidential registry of traumatic
and acquired brain and spinal cord injuries. The reports are generated from data derived from
hospitals and emergency departments. The analysis of data regarding incidence of traumatic and
acquired brain and spinal cord injury is critical to the planning efforts of the Traumatic Brain Injury
Trust Fund Board of Directors and the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, as these entities
work to develop and refine services for children and adults. These reports are also highly
significant for the planning and development of prevention efforts in the Commonwealth. The data
will assist in planning future efforts in prevention, treatment and service delivery.
