Grants and Contracts Details
Description
This proposal has been prepared in response to a request from staff of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) for a proposal and cost estimate for conducting Phase I archaeological survey of five lake volume fill mitigation sites related to realignment and improvements along US68/KY80 in Trigg County, Kentucky. The mitigation sites are all positioned along or near the shoreline of Lake Barkley State Resort Park (the Park) and are on land that is owned by the US Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District (USACE). Five sites have been identified for archaeological survey, and these are noncontiguous areas distributed along several kilometers of near-shoreline setting on the eastern margin of Lake Barkley. The work that will be conducted is intended to provide an inventory of the cultural resources within the project area and to provide an evaluation of the research potential for the archaeological deposits encountered within the mitigation sites. Because the land is owned by the USACE, a permit for the survey work is required under the Archaeological Resources Protection Ace (ARPA).
