UK 50% Diversion Project

The goal of the University of Kentucky’s recycling program is to increase the University’s recycling and waste diversion rates. A best management practice towards increasing recycling is to use consistent recycling containers throughout campus, placed in key convenient locations. Our proposed project seeks to purchase a recycling compactor, outdoor containers, and containers for the Gatton Student Center. By increasing capacity on campus, UK Recycling hopes to be one step closer to the Sustainability Strategic Plan’s goals of increasing recycling by 25% and increasing the diversion rate to 50% by 2022.
