Description
The Area Health Education Center’s (AHEC) Navigator Database maintains data on medical students and helps the AHEC to place them in medically underserved areas.
In its present form the system only tracks current students and is limited in scope of data.
By updating the Navigator Database system, it will allow the AHEC to track students after graduation, and allow the data to be retrieved and reviewed in a reportable format.
This will help to provide a better understanding of healthcare professional issues in Kentucky.
AHEC shall:
1. Assist in the upgrade and redevelopment of the Navigator Database.
2. Improve the Navigator Database system’s ability to retrieve and review data that have been captured and to do so in a reportable format.
3. Improve the Navigator Database system’s ability for data to be accessed by a number of factors, including geographical representation, race, ethnicity and gender.
4. Develop ability of the Navigator Database system to better allow AHEC to track students after graduation.
5. Maintain data on graduated medical students to help place them in medically underserved areas.
