Description

To expand employment opportunities for consumers who are blind and visually impaired. There is an urgent need to increase competitive empl.oyment opportunities and outcomes for individuals with disabilities, as demonstrated both by the great number of unemployed and underemployed individuals who are blind and visually impaired in the Commonwealth. The Department for the Blind Is mandated through federal performance 'rl~asures for the placement of consumers into competitive employment. In order to increase competitive employment and/or self..employment opportunities and outcomes for indIviduals ;/\1110 are blind and visually impaired the Department will enter into an agrElement with UKto provide training and technical assistance in the placement of individualswith disabilities into ;,;:ompetltivemployment and/or self-employment.
