Description

The First Steps Program is the Part C Program of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. The program provides early intervention services to children from birth to three years of age with developmental delay and/or a medical condition with an increased risk of developmental delay. First Steps services are provided statewide and are coordinated by the CHFS. The UK Part C Coordinator shall provide oversight to all aspects of the First Steps program including assuring that all federal reporting requirements are completed within the deadlines established by the Office of Special Education Projects. The Part C Coordinator shall also make recommendations to the Department for Public Health/Division of Maternal and Child Health/Early Childhood Development management on changes as well as monitoring that the program remains within budgetary constraints.
