Description
The goal of the University of Kentucky’s recycling program is to increase the University’s
recycling and waste diversion rates. A best management practice towards increasing recycling is
to use consistent recycling containers throughout campus, placed in key convenient locations.
Our proposed project includes the purchase and placement of 2 a-framed recycle roof 30 cubic
yard open top containers to be placed at the new Vaughn Warehouse and Taylor Education
Building Parking lot, making recycling convenient in these areas. By increasing capacity in these
two areas, UK Recycling hopes to be one step closer to the Sustainability Strategic Plan’s goals
of increasing recycling by 25% and decreasing landfill waste by 50% by 2025.
