ABSTRACT - HDI/UK ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY CENTER FY25-FY26
Kentucky’s regional AT centers are funded through the Assistive Technology (AT) Act of
1998, as amended. The U.S. Department of Education distributes these funds to the
Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation under the state grant program,Kentucky
Assistive Technology Services Network (KATS). KATS supports 5 regional Assistive
Technology Resource Centers (ATRC) in order to provide statewide and comprehensive
assistive technology activities, as outlined in the AT Act of 1998.
The HDI/UK AT Center will build and maintain a lending library of assistive devices to be
used across life areas. The center will have ongoing demonstration available to all
Kentuckians, and provide training of professionals, consumers, and their families to
Kentuckians throughout the region. This center will provide research and training
opportunities for students and outreach and direct service to the communities of Central
Kentucky.
