Description
Abstract:
The Kentucky Regional Optical Network (KyRON), a partnership between the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary
Education (CPE) and higher education institutions, has provided high-speed research-focused communications to
Kentucky''s institutions for over a decade. Global connectivity provided in conjunction with Internet2 has become
invaluable for both research communications and commercial (major cloud providers) peering to Kentucky schools.
Dr. Bumgardner has a long history with KyRON and other state-wide research infrastructure efforts, including the
coordination of previous KyRON updates with institutional leadership across postsecondary institutions in
Kentucky. In addition, he has lead several multi-institutional grant submissions in support of cyberinfrastructure
growth on the State-level.
CPE will contract with the University of Kentucky Research Foundation (UKRF) for the services of Dr. Cody
Bumgardner, an employee of UK to serve as CPE Fellow for the CPE. In this effort he will provide technical advisory
and coordination between educational institutions, State, and national groups.
