Description

Designed for those agricultural educators teaching in the Animal Science pathway (specifically Veterinary Science and Small Animal Science courses), this interactive, two-day workshop will give teachers the opportunity to incorporate science more fully into their Veterinary Science and Small Animal Science courses through practical application. Teachers will explore the processes of collecting, preparing, and analyzing various samples in a veterinary setting. Participants will collect fecal samples, create microscope slides, and identify various internal parasites. Participants will learn the art of suturing, complete a lab to visualize the spread of infectious diseases, and explore antibiotic resistance. Topics to be covered include parasitology, infectious diseases, antibiotic resistance, and laboratory procedures used in veterinary clinics.
