University of Kentucky - Return to Short-Term Certificates

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Abstract In this project, we will conduct research in the state of Kentucky, using administrative data from the Council of Postsecondary Education, to understand the economic processes that lead students to pursue and complete short-term and vocational certificates, the outcomes and benefits associated with such educational pursuits, and the enrollment patterns, decisions, and outcomes of adult and nontraditional students. We will answer questions such as: What are the labor market benefits (employment, earnings) of short-term educational and vocational certificates? What are the predictors of certificate completion and field of study? How do the benefits of enrollment vary across fields of study, student demographic characteristics, institutions attended, educational and vocational background, and geography?
