LThe mission of the CFFT Therapeutics Development Network is to facilitate the clinical study of new and existing therapies to cure and control cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality oflife of patients with CF. The goals of the TDC network include the following: • Protect the safety and rights of individuals with CF involved in clinical research; • Optimize patient access to clinical trials of therapeutic approaches throughout the United States; • Optimize the benefit of clinical research for the CF community by creating a centralized process for coordinating and prioritizing trials; • Maintain specialized centers of excellence for early and late stage study design and development, consultation with industry, core laboratory procedures, and interpretation of specialized data; • Utilize pooled resources (e.g., data, specimens, etc.) to pose new questions regarding the pathophysiology of CF and to develop new therapeutic approaches and biomarkers; and • Maximize the efficient use of resources for study development and conduct by maintaining specialized centers for the conduct of early phase clinical trials, facilitating training and mentoring of clinical research staff, and developing best practices for clinical research through continuous quality improvement processes.
