Grants and Contracts Details
Description
The present proposal seeks to use existing administrative data from the Commonwealth of Kentucky to understand pathways to placement in a residential treatment facility for children and youth.
Residential treatment is one of the most restrictive and expensive forms of intervention for children and youth.
Child welfare and juvenile justice involved youth are at the highest risk for these placements.
We propose to use existing administrative data from Medicaid to identify episodes of residential treatment and match with other data sources to understand factors that are related to youth being placed.
In addition, we propose to use existing assessment information from the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) to estimate the impact of the application of CANS algorithms for placement on the placements.
