Description
Participants successfully completing this workshop will understand how the Global Positioning System (GPS) works and what different kinds of GPS technology are available to consumers for different applications. They will be able to use handheld GPS receivers to record points, map boundaries, and measure distances, and then import that data to a PC to create maps. They will also understand how GPS is used in precision agriculture to manage fields on a spatial basis. Each attendee will receive a handheld GPS receiver and associated software, PowerPoint materials, and suggested curriculum ideas to be used in their classrooms.
