Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Funding is requested to support the University of Kentucky team seeking to compete in the Wildlife Conservation Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Challenge. This challenge seeks to produce a low-cost unmanned aerial system capable of identifying and tracking poachers in South Africa's Kruger national park. Participating in this challenge will provide undergraduate students with hands-on experience applying analytical principles, problem solving ability and design skills towards designing, building and flying an unmanned aerial system capable of meeting specific set of design requirements. The challenge will culminate in a flight competition in August 2014 in which teams from around the world will compete to demonstrate that their system best achieves the challenge design criteria.
