Description
The HazWaste Project, housed within the Martin School of Public Policy and
Administration, serves as the evaluation group for the Midwest Consortium for
Hazardous Waste Worker Training. Under the sponsorship of NIEHS, the Consortium
is composed of 14 centers; and it provides health and safety training for workers in the
hazardous materials industry who might respond to emergencies or remediate sites.
September 11th concerns have been incorporated into existing and planned curricula.
Since 1987 the HazWaste project has been headed by Dr. Philip Berger, now Professor
Emeritus in the Martin School. The group's main function is to evaluate the
Consortium's effectiveness and assist Central Administration and the training centers.
