Grants and Contracts Details
Description
World AIDS Day takes place on December 1st each year and is an international day dedicated to
raising awareness of HIV/AIDS by showing support for people living with HIV and
commemorating those who have died from AIDS-related illnesses. This proposal seeks funding
for the Bluegrass Care Clinic (BCC) at the University of Kentucky to host a World AIDS Day
event on November 30, 2018 to support the 1600 people living with HIV (PLWH) who get care
at the BCC and encourage their friends and family to get tested for HIV. The World AIDS Day
event will be held at the BCC and free HIV testing, STD and HIV education, and prevention
supplies (e.g., condoms) will be provided by BCC staff and health educators. The World AIDS
Day event will complement the current Prevention with Positives program that currently
provides vital preventions services to high-risk PLWH.
