A Lagrangian interpolation method for three-point problems

Abstract

Three-point problems, traditionally solved using graphical constructions, can be formulated as Lagrangian interpolation problems and solved numerically using standard methods. In addition to calculating strike and dip of a planar geologic feature, three-point interpolation gives elevation of the feature at an arbitrary point with minimum effort.
